The 1st ITT Ciudad de Antofagasta Tournament took place between 31st October and 4th November in the Hall José Santos Ossa “Hotel Leeds” – Balmaceda 2575, Antofagasta – Chile.
The tournament was organized by the Antofagasta Chess Association. The event was played under the round robin format and was valid for obtaining the International Master norms.
Chilean Grandmaster Rodrigo Vasquez Schroeder became the champion by finishing undefeated with 7 points.
The second place was for the future of Chilean chess Pablo Garcia Cardenas, who recently turned 23, after concluding the event undefeated with 6.5 points.
The third place went to the Peruvian FM Marco Pacheco with 6.0 points and a performance of 2501. Pacheco also claimed his final IM norm.
