Victor Korchnoi has agreed to come to Las Vegas in 2007. We are working on the details for a match between Victor and me during the 2007 Las Vegas Chess Festival and the Susan Polgar World Open Championship for Girls / Women next year. As everyone knows, Victor is a fierce fighter and it should be a very entertaining match. I am looking forward to it.

I can’t wait to see this match! Go Susan!
Good luck! Whoop him!
I’ve always loved his games and regretted how FIDE cheated him of a championship, and I’m so impressed he’s playing strong chess at his age! This should be a great match.
I could still remember Victor coming a few rounds later at the Manila Olympiad in 1992 with one eye “closed”. I hope he comes to Vegas with both eyes “opened”. Good luck to both of you!
Good luck to both of you!
What’s with the word verification? It’s a bit frustrating to do it.
Actually, word verification is a good thing. It prevents spammers.
Go for it Susan! Work on your KP openings for black. Your accelerated dragon at the Womens World Cup was put under heavy pressure. YOu probably already realize this.
Susan,

I assume the time controls will be “rapid”, meaning 20 min per game. I can see why this time control is chosen, but if you play at a rating of rufly 2550 at slow time controls, What rating do you guess you play at in rapid time?

I just recently saw on YouTube.com an old short video of V.Korchnoi not exactly “losing with dignity” (TM) in a loss to your sis Sophia. VK said something close to “You will never beat me again girlie”!
The Polgar sisters were back then a new phenomenon, but by now nobody is surprised when you three win.

I wonder whether P.Keres or V.Korchnoi was the best chess player never to become World Chess Champion? Keres had a winning record against Korchnoi (+4,-1,=13), but Korchnoi was probably still learning when they began playing each other.

The new blog design is cosmetically different than before. But I really with I could at a glance see what is the datetime of the latest entry per blog topic.

This is great! I will have to go back to National Open again next year. This year I drew Susan Polgar. I hope Korchnoi will be giving a simul. I drew Petrosian also in NYC Manhattan Chess Club back in 1972. In any event, this will be a great event and a chance for us to see a living legend, the only other player who still managed to play great chess at advance age was Lasker.
