The 2016 European Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship will be held in Tallinn, Estonia, from December 14-18, 2016. The competition venue will be Park Inn by Radisson Meriton Conference & Spa Hotel.
The Championship, dedicated to Paul Keres 100 Memorial, is open to all players representing Chess Federations which are ECU members (FIDE zones 1.1. to 1.10), regardless of their title and rating. There is no limit to the number of participants per federation.
The Rapid Championship will be held from December 15-16 and the Blitz Championship from December 17-18.
The European Individual Rapid Chess Championship will be played according to the Swiss system, in 11 rounds, with the time control 15 minutes game + 10 seconds per move starting from the first move.
The total prize fund in rapid is €20,000. Top prizes are EUR 4,000/2,500/1,500 etc. There are also special prizes for women, juniors and elo sections.

The European Individual Blitz Chess Championship will be played according to the Swiss system, in 13 paired rounds, with the time control 3 minutes game + 2 seconds per move starting from the first move.
The total prize fund in rapid is €10,000. Top prizes are EUR 2,000/1,000/750 etc. There are also special prizes for women, juniors and elo sections.
