The 21st HIT Open 2016 was taking place from January 29th to February 4th, in Nova Gorica, Slovenia.
The event was a 9-round Swiss open with prize fund in the amount of 6,000 EUR.
The Russian player GM Vladimir Epishin surged ahead with 7.5 points and lifted the trophy. He left the nearest followers, GM Dragisa Blagojevic from Montenegro and GM Sinisa Drazic from Serbia, half a point behind.
The best female player was 2014 World champion for girls U14 WIM Laura Unuk.
