Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan, who also acts as President of the Armenian Chess Federation, said in his interview with Ukrainian Profile edition that he is proud of the Armenian chess players.
“Chess was an element of Armenian life for ages. Sure, it got around widely after Tigran Petrosian had won the world chess championship (in 60s). Chess cultivate in a person a sense of purpose, discipline and consistency. It’s very important. I am proud of our chess players, and I am proud that long before my taking the office of Armenia’s President, I became the President of the Chess Federation of our country,” said President Sargsyan.
